Wegens overvloedige olympische verplichtingen van de hoofdredactie, verschijnen er tenminste een week geen nieuwe verhalen op Rusland in woord en beeld.
Om het wachten iets te bekorten: ik stuitte op een mooi, stevig, Engelstalig artikel van Julia Ioffe, waarin ze duidelijk maakt waarom discussieren en polemiseren met Russen af en toe - ik druk me voorzichtig uit (voorzichtiger dan Ioffe, in elk geval) erg, erg lastig kan zijn. U vindt haar artikel hier.
En lees vooral ook de commentaren bij het stuk. Hieronder alvast eentje die een beetje tegenwicht biedt:

And nobody cares about gays or what are the current issues on Russia in the Western media..... People just dont have a time to think about media agenda on Russia and surely about you, Ms. Ioffe, personally!!!
If you think that you can give all Russians or any other nation a lesson so let me to give one to you! It is not an appropriate to talk about the whole nation and use such word as schizophrenia. I am sure thаt American journalists will support me in this ethic position. If you wish to solve few psychological problems so it should be better to adress the schizophrenia issue to yourself by talking into account the quantity of your articles devoted to "weak-paranoic-corrupted" Russia...."
