Ik kan verschrikkelijk jaloers worden – wanneer iemand met een idee komt dat ík had moeten verzinnen. Soviet Visuals (een site gewijd aan posters, films, foto's enzovoort uit de USSR) kwam met zo’n idee: Leave a comment with ONE FACT about yourself and we'll reply with a hand-picked Soviet visual. Go!
Ik kwam het tegen op Twitter, de reacties daar stroomden binnen (ik gaf ook ‘one fact’ over mijzelf) en Soviet Visuals deed wat ze beloofden. Hieronder een selectie, het wijst zich vanzelf.

Tot zover deze eerste selectie. Er komt zeker nog een tweede deel en misschien zelfs een derde, want een flink aantal ‘facts’ zijn door Soviet Visuals nog niet beantwoord met een beeld. Bijvoorbeeld:
I’m Chinese. / I love Beethoven / I perform on stage a lot, I mostly sing, but I do some acting as well / I have no upper arm on this side / I work with dogs... and gymnasts / My mom made me join the Quaker church after the Iraq war started to get conscious objector status / I like turtles / I love Lenin and think I'm satan. Also, i play the recorder / I work in the foreign service / My dad always said you have to “lead, follow, or get out of the way.” I was always relieved that getting out of the way was an option.
Mijn eigen 'one fact' – nog niet beantwoord – is: Johan Cruijff is my all time hero. Nee, niet bijster origineel, maar ik weet dat er sportbladen waren in de USSR waarin foto’s van Cruijff stonden. En misschien kent Soviet Visuals de voetbalfilm uit de Sovjetunie waar in de kleedkamer zo maar opeens Nederlands wordt gesproken. We wachten af.
